Standing:

If you are a graduate student working on a longer project and you would like a Writing Center consultant to read your work outside the session, please do the following:
1. Check the brief bios on the Writing Center website to determine which consultants have agreed to work on longer projects outside the center.
2. Sign up for a session with one of these consultants.
3. Use this session to frame your project and voice questions and concerns you have and to schedule a 2nd appointment. The consultant will read the paper before the 2nd appointment.

The Writing Center's mission is to help you become a better writer. While we do not copyedit or proofread, we will help you to develop the skills to improve your writing, reading, and thinking. To get the most out of your session please prepare in the following way:
  • Reread your assignment and draft in order to determine a particular question or concern to take up during the session.
  • Bring any materials associated with your assignment that we may need during the session: the course syllabus, the assignment, instructor feedback, relevant readings and research, and/or exercises and drafts.
The Writing Center is very popular; we ask that you be courteous of your peers by adhering to the following rules:
  • Be on time: You risk losing your appointment if you are more than 10 minutes late.
  • If you need to cancel, cancel three hours in advance. If you miss two appointments without canceling in advance, you will not be allowed to schedule an appointment with the Writing Center again during the semester but you may use the Writing Center on a drop-in basis.

By clicking register, you acknowledge your agreement with the Writing Center Pledge.
